Methodology

Our project has come a long way. This page is dedicated to telling you how we started and how we have progressed throughout this project.

EVENTS

In order to put our resource package to good use, we  organised activity stations at various locations such as the Singapore Science Centre and student care centres.

On 18 June, we went to the Singapore Science Centre library and had the opportunity to demo and interact with the young kids there. We received positive results from the participants and they felt the techniques taught were interesting and effective. We could see that the participants had a great time, and so did we!

We also visited the Gifted Learners Student Care centre on 31 July to present and demo our memory training techniques. They responded fairly well to the image story-linking technique for stringing.

CREATION OF THE RESOURCE PACKAGE

The bulk of our time was spent developing the resource package as it contains complete information in a one-stop interactive site where anyone interested can pick up effective memory training techniques, play interactive games as well as read related articles on the subject! It can be viewed at
tinyurl.com/trainyourbrainrp.

The whole resource package was coded from scratch by the group leader using HTML. The programming skills learnt from his CCA made the creation of the website possible.

In order to make the resource package useful and engaging, twe sourced widely for information from both the web and from library books. From these, we compiled key memory training techniques into the resource package and designed the learning style test with questions compiled by Ryan Ong.

We also include some fun games (designed  by us and from the internet). We also added relevant articles such as the sort of food you should eat more to improve your brainpower.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Samuel, the group leader, got his inspiration for the project from a 3-part documentary produced by National Geographic, entitled "Test your Brain". Samuel was inspired to start a project to help others improve their memory.

Samuel then formed a group with his classmate Denton, Ryan Ong and Ryan Lau.

And so our project was started!
